Spirit Airlines, founded in 1983, is an ultra-low-cost airline based in the U.S. Its headquarters are located in Miramar, Florida. Its huge fleet consist of 138 aircraft. Travelers can book Spirit Airlines flight tickets for one of the 76 (domestic and international) destinations it serves. The operating bases of this popular airline includes Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport, Orlando International Airport, McCarran International Airport, Detroit Metropolitan Airport, O’Hare International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Atlantic City International Airport.
Baggage Policy
Spirit Airlines allows one personal item to be carried free of charge. The standard cabin bag and the check-in bags are chargeable. Passengers have to pay a fee for taking the check-in baggage.
The size of the personal item that can be carried free should be no more than 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm).
The size of the cabin bag should not be more than 22 x 18 x 10 inches (56 x 46 x 25 cm). The airline does not give a weight limit.
A standard check-in bag should not be more than 62 linear inches (158 cm) in dimensions, including wheels and handles, and should not weigh more than 40 lbs(18 kg).
However, the maximum size of the check-in bag can be up to 80 linear inches (203 cm) after being charged an oversized fee, and the maximum weight can be up to 100 pounds (45 kg) upon payment of an overweight baggage fee.
